A travel packing list you can reuse
Updated
Keep a single packing list of all you ever take, and copy it before each trip. Tick items as they go into the bag, and delete what this trip can skip. Share it by link and you both see what is packed, so only one charger goes in.
The checklist
| Section | Items |
|---|---|
| Documents and money | passport, visa printout, travel insurance, bank cards, some cash, booking confirmations |
| Clothes | underwear, socks, T-shirts, trousers or shorts, a jumper, a rain jacket, sleepwear, shoes |
| Toiletries | toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, sunscreen, razor |
| Electronics | phone charger, power bank, travel adapter, headphones |
| Health | prescription medicines, painkillers, plasters, insect repellent |
| Bags and gear | day pack, water bottle, sunglasses, a padlock |
| Kids | snacks, a toy, wipes, a change of clothes |
Ahead of an overseas trip
Read the travel advice and the entry rules for each country, the ones you transit included. Australians find them on Smartraveller. Its before you go page covers insurance and health.
Build it once, copy it for each trip
- New list, choose Packing and switch on "Make it a base list".
- Type or say the items. Each one gets an emoji and a section: a passport lands under Documents and money, a power bank under Electronics.
- Before a trip, open the base and tap "New list from this base". The copy takes the name of the base and the day, such as "Packing - 27.10".
- Delete what this trip skips, such as the rain jacket for a week at the beach.
The base list stays untouched for the next trip.
Pack as a pair
Share the list for the trip with a link. Every tick shows on both phones, so you see what the other person has packed. For the trip home, "Untick all" resets the list.
Plan the sights
A "Things to see" list pulls places near the town you type from Wikipedia and splits them into days. Tap Route on a day to get a walking route in Google Maps.
